AD Aerospace presents the FlightVu Witness system as a powerful tool in the prevention of Air Rage crimes. FlightVu Witness is the latest in the successful FlightVu video safety and security systems.
FlightVu Witness is a system of covert and/or overt CCTV cameras fitted throughout the passenger cabins of an airliner, which are connected to a state of the art digital video recorder. The cameras will work to deter violent or disruptive passengers, whilst the video images, courtroom proven, can be used in the prosecution process.
Cameras can also be fitted in the cargo hold, to provide evidence of baggage theft, or in any other area within the body of the aircraft, where the safety and security of staff, passengers and equipment are at issue.
Over recent years international airlines have witnessed a massive increase in air rage incidences.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) set up a Working Group on Disruptive and Unruly Passengers in 1998, a "Recommended Practice" has been adopted by airlines, and this defines a global framework for handling disturbances onboard. The UK Flight Safety Committee has called upon the British government to launch a worldwide effort to combat Air Rage.
Surely the emphasis must be on Prevention. Unruly and violent passengers create a massive safety risk to the aircraft and it’s passengers. They can also prove to be very expensive to airlines. In some cases, captains have been forced to divert a flight to eject the violent passenger. British Airways has said that the average cost of an unscheduled landing is £40,000.
Surveillance cameras have been extremely effective in other areas of society as a deterrent to crime. If airline passengers are made aware that the cabins are fitted with cameras that will record the whole flight, they will be less likely to become disruptive.
The FlightVu internal cameras not only deter criminals, if an incident did occur in-flight the indelibly stamped recorded images (registering the time, date and location) would be admissible as evidence in court. This would aid and speed up prosecution of the offender.
The FlightVu Witness internal cameras can also form part of a comprehensive aircraft safety and security system, consisting of internal and external cameras, monitors and recorders. For more information about FlightVu, CONTACT US.
