AD Aerospace And Lufthansa Technik Work Together To Improve Aircraft Security
AD Aerospace Ltd of Manchester, UK, in co-operation with Lufthansa Technik of Hamburg, have developed the FlightVu Defender system, the first video security system for Corporate and VIP aircraft.
The FlightVu Defender is ready for market and the initial trials will be carried out by Lufthansa Technik, who have placed orders on behalf of their customers for two complete systems. These systems will be fitted to Boeing Business Jets in the coming months in the Hamburg facility.
Aircraft security is as important on the ground as in the air. Using up to eight cameras, the FlightVu Defender system provides comprehensive peripheral coverage whilst the aircraft is parked. FlightVu Defender constantly monitors programmable zones around the aircraft. In the event of any activity the system detects the intrusion using revolutionary Video Motion Detection (VMD) technology. On-board digital recording is then triggered, and the images are transmitted to a local ground station using low power microwave spread spectrum. This system provides every opportunity to alert and mobilise ground security staff the moment security is threatened.
Once received, images can be transmitted in seconds via conventional telephone links, land-based or mobile, to anywhere in the world. This innovative new technology will also allow those responsible for security to call up the live camera images from around and inside the aircraft. All entrances, exits, baggage loading areas and passenger cabins can be monitored.
AD Aerospace are pleased to be co-operating with Lufthansa Technik on such a major improvement in VIP safety, and have designated Lufthansa Technik, Hamburg as their preferred VIP installation company. The two companies are now working closely together on a number of projects.
